portfolio & design blog of logo & identity designer, Graham Smith

UPDATE:

This was initially posted several months ago, and thank all the people who have so far submitted their designs. It has not been in vain. Didn’t feel there was really enough initial submissions to make the post worthwhile so I delayed the idea until now. Will promote it again for another week or so, then post all the submissions.

Win a Special Edition Helvetica Moleskine.

But this isn’t just for kicks. Two winners will receive the much vaunted Special Edition Helvetica Moleskine.

I have not yet decided how the two winners will be picked, maybe random, maybe my own personal choice, maybe by pubic vote. Details yet to be decided.

Yes, you read right. And to clarify.

This contest revolves around you converting your own personal/company/freelance business logo into Helvetica. So much like the popular Logo Design Roundup Part 4 – Over 50 Ways Designers Promote & Brand Themselves series, you can send in your Helvetica converted logos.

The Before Logo

The After Logo Transformed into Helvetica

The details

It’s really quite simple. As you can see from my poor example above, I have substituted the main font with Helvetica.

Feel free to bastardise it, or glam it up. This isn’t really about who can make it look the best, have some fun with it. You could make it look totally uncool if you want, entirely up to you.

It’s all about presentation.

There are therefore two categores:

  1. Serious attempt at logo design improvement with Helvetica
  2. I really can’t be arsed attempt to make my company logo look good in Helvetica, but im doing it for shits and giggles.

Why would i want to do such a silly thing

Well, I guess I still have the child within me. The idea just kinda hit me whilst walking the dog. It’s part of the LoveHelvetica site promotion but as its based around logo design, I wanted to host it on ImJustCreative. However, the winning submissions will be posted on LoveHelvetica.com and the Flickr Group for all to see.

It’s just some fun, but Im sure will be taken quite seriously by some of you, which is only natural.

Send submissions to

Please email both your before and after designs to : helveticalogodesign@imjustcreative.otherinbox.com Make sure you indicate which category you are entering. I would like to say I would be able to tell, but you never know. Not going to take that chance.
