Toluu is different from many existing feed reader and feed aggregators, in that it just doesn't aggregate. It does, but it also does something more substantially useful.

Toluu offers some neat ideas and twists on the usual feed reading services. It's not a way to talk or communicate directly, hence it's not a social network as such.

Toluu is a central depository for your feeds and a library for finding other feeds that are similar to your own tastes. It's easy to add feeds on the fly and check in feeds as and when you find them.

You import your existing RSS feeds into Toluu as you can any other feed reader. The bonus is that this information is then correlated and used to determine your 'style' of sites, blogs, feeds etc. Then you activate the 'Matches' tab and here is generated the most useful aspect I have seen in any aggregator.

As well as manually adding feeds, you can use the Toluu bookmarklet to automatically add a feed direct to your account. By hooking it up with Twitter from the preferences, you can inform all your buddies everytime you add a feed, plus you give off some good karma for promoting the site in question.

Based on your existing feeds, it analyzes other Toluu members profiles and feeds and churns out results based on percentage match. For example, 'User A'' might share your passion for certain subjects, then the results will come higher, from this 'User A' will also have feeds that you are not aware of, and this is where it really shines. From this you are introduced to sites, blogs and feeds you might otherwise have missed.

I have come across many new and interesting blogs, sites and feed that I simply did not know about, that are matched to my own tastes.

Also, Toluu will notify you when a "friend" has added further feeds and contacts, so you can check out their profiles and see what they are interested in. If something rocks your boat, you can then add their feeds to your own profile.

Give it a shot

Toluu is a service that has fast grown on me. The mportant thing is that it will really shine the more people come on board, as there will be a richer store of feeds to measure and match from, thus you will benefit from discovering further feeds based on your own likes.

Well recommend signing up and giving it a go.

See my Toluu feed at http://www.toluu.com/imjustcreative. Sign up and add me as a contact. Well, it's not a order, more a polite suggestion.

Get a Toluu invite

If you want to take this for a spin, then I have a number of invites to pass on. Just leave a comment below and I will shoot one off to you.

A library of various standard size Chicklets/badges/icons etc that's expanding in size on a regular basis.

These include Last.fm, Socialthing, MyBlogLog, PopURL, WordPress, LinkedIn, Toluu, Delicious, Twitter, Ping.fm, RSS logos, Pownce, Profilactic, FriendFeed, Jaikur, W3C CSS and XHTML Validator chicklets.
These were initially created for myself, rather than using existing chicklets or not being able to find any at all. Mostly for my various Lifestream, social aggregators and feeds. It's not rocket science to make these, but if you like them, please feel free to use them for yourself. I do ask a small favour though, see below.

Also please feel free to suggest any new designs, I would rather do ones that are wanted or needed.

As my general warning for these, please just don't try and enlarge them, they will look damn awful at any magnification due to the small default Chicklet size of 80px by 15px.

Smashing.

Ofcourse you are free to use these however you wish. It would be appreciated though if you could find somehow to link to this page or at least my site. Nothing obtrusive, just maybe a link in your Blogroll or something. That would be nice.

MyBlogLog Chicklet logoMyBlogLog Chicklet logo

MyBlogLog has been one of those social network services that I signed up some time ago and really did nothing with for some time. Until now that is.

I am far more active than I used to be with MyBlogLog , and am certainly seeing traffic coming to this site from sites like MyBlogLog . I don't participate so much in the communities, but I do use it to micro manage my various Social Network sites. They also have a pretty decent LifeStream within your profile, that is made up from all the services that you set-up from your profile. You can see my Lifestream here at Profilactic or at FriendFeed, even a summary LifeStream here on my site.

I still think MyBlogLog has potential to be so much more, plenty of people use it, but it just does not have that certain magical ingredient, that I can't think of right now. I think the interface for a start needs to be updated and redesigned. That would be a good first step.

So here are a couple of Chicklet, Logos and badges should you want to use them for anything, you can find me on MyBlogLog here .

Since the chaps at Profilactic started using the one I did for them Powered by Profilactic badge that was previously knocked up, I have been enthused to do further Web applications and social networks.

So feel free to use and abuse this logo, small request at bottom of this post.

Smashing.

Profilactic LogoOne more chicklet to add to my collection. Obviously it is for the Lifestreaming Social Aggregator Service, Profilactic, which I have been using extensively recently and highly recommend it as a way to manage all your feeds, social networking messages and service profiles.

This image is a bit different to my usual, as it had to be a bit longer due to the extra wording. It is 140px wide instead of the usual 80px.

As used by Profilactic.com on their Mash-Up Badges.
