Purge it… The Brain Purge.
So here is a interesting concept I discovered the other day. It works for me but if you try it and die in the process you clearly didn’t do it right.
It’s to do with the whole swimming, under water type scenario. A good swim doesn’t always leave me feeling good, most times it does, but every now and again, the stress levels are just way high.
The Brain Purge
Simply, hold your breath whilst under water, preferably at the deep end
and if your eyes can stomach the chlorine, then without goggles. Now
the smart people will say ‘aha, but if you hold your breath under
water you ain’t gonna stay under water as your lungs are full of air
thus you shall rise to the surface.’
Fair comment.
You must hold yourself under water, I usually just hold onto the edge
of the pool and push myself under until I am fully stretched, feet
touching the bottom where I can steady myself.
It’s an idea to move your fingers every now and again otherwise you may
make the lifeguards a bit jittery. I learneded this from experience.
It can get a bit tricky trying to keep vertical as your body will naturally want to rise to the surface…
Look up to the surface and things start to take effect, its almost like
a meditation except it isn’t. But the concept of staying still and
concentrating on one thing, your breath is similar I think. I do this
after a swim, every time now. Usually manage around 3mins, but feel so
much better after this purge, this forcing the body to do something we
really were not designed for, but 3mins of survival and nothing else.
Common sense would dictate that you surface when you feel, preferably before, you faint. Or die. But feel free to use your own judgment on this.

Okay, you talked me into it. Maggie and I will go to the pool today. It sounds like lots of fun! Of course, the pool here is an indoor pool since the weather is cold.
So, it should be refreshing. I’ll let you know-
