On: Twitter…
Crap. Thought I would not get myself into another social technology invention. Way overwhelmed with just Blogging.
But I read so much about it, most of it VERY positive, so figured that it must be worth giving a try. Like the Blog, It’s only going to be as good as the frequency you can Twitter. Or maybe not.
I like the idea of being able to just Text a Twitter update where
ever you are. I know you can update to most Blogs, but I didn’t tlike
the fact that you were so limited with design. At least with Twitter
you need not worry about formating etc. Only downside is that the Text
messages for here in the UK are charged at International rate,
something I know they are working on. I was also going to set up MSN
but as of writing, their IM support was down.
Just wondering why you may want to be motivated to have yet another electronic form of self advertisement. For people like me, who don’t have a avid reader base, then I don’t see that much will become of it. Unless you DO just like recording everything you do. Which is fine. Personally, I like to at least think something useful will come out of it. The Blog for example, is mostly for me I guess. Most of what I Blog is pretty run of the mill stuff, but I do enjoy doing it time to time. Twitter, I don’t know.
For sure, if I knew I had a legion of crazed fans wanting to know what I am doing every minute of the day I might find a little more motivation for it. But it is VERY public. I know that I will not actively promote twitter to friends or the like, this announcement will probably be it. If people sign up for it then I’ll see. If not, then again, I’ll see. Maybe I will get to liking it, regardless of my ‘fan’ base.
Maybe it is wrong for me to look at it as a means of constant advertising. Maybe, it’s just as fun to have sporadic ‘humour’ comments, just because. Like everyone else who has been Blogging about Twitter, time will tell. Certainly it is very popular.
This is my Twitter address: http://twitter.com/grahamrsmith and for the moment I have included the Twitter window on the right hand margin.
