Some pretty good reasons to shop with DigitalSlave
The most important point is that I am a really nice guy. The rest of
the points are equally as valid but lag behind in the general order of
things.
eBay is driven by Feedback, so for the most part it gives a pretty
clear indication of the likely service you may expect. I hope mine goes
some way to signify my reputation and integrity.
I focus on the ‘cooler’ aspect of the digital life, not just
spending money for the sake of it, but offering products that genuinely
improve our experiences of day-to-day living. With this in mind,
offering pretty good prices and damn good service, I hope you will
consider me when you choose to make a purchase.
There are many aspects of consumer rights which affect all
online sellers, eBay or not. So, for example, when you decided to
purchase something from me you would of automatically been entitled to
some pretty meaningful stuff.
Some of these more worthwhile things are:
You get a pretty nice, but optional, 2% Cashback when you use PayPal. A flexible and moldable returns, refund & replacement thing. You are most definitely covered by the ‘7 day cooling-off period’ from date of purchase. Without
a shadow of a doubt, you are protected by ‘The Consumer Protection
Regulations 2000′, ‘Distance Selling Regulation (SI 2334/2000)’ and
‘Sale of Goods Act’ and various other meaningful rules and regulations. Lightening quick posting. VAT
registered? Get away, no chance-so what does this mean in practical
terms? It means no VAT charges or other hidden postal insurance charges. Each sale is backed by this great scheme called SquareTrade. More than enough progress eMail’s. You got my number, so call. It’s just me, me and more of me. Any problems or questions then it is that me you speak to, absolutely no one else (even my voice mail is ‘me’). There is other stuff, but I don’t want to brag, that is clearly not a good marketing strategy.

After a very cool chat with Graham (whose details I found on eBay), I’ve decided to order a pair of these earphones (UM1’s). I’ve faffed about in the past with various cheapo Sony in-ear pairs, and have never really been happy with sound quality, so thought it time to invest in a decent pair, to go with the shiny new 80GB iPod.
The most difficult decision was what to spend my hard earned £££ on, so it was nice to be able to actually talk to a real person, explain what I was looking for and the kind of music I generally listen to, and have some ideas bounced back at me. Credit to Graham for (a) being so accessible, (b) being willing to spend 30 mins talking to a complete earphone numpty like me helping me make a choice, and (c) operating the ‘try before you buy’ policy - after all, who wants to spend £120 on a pair of phones only to find you *really* can’t get on with them?
They will arrive tomorrow, so I’ll post my thoughts once I’ve had a few days to try then out.

Well, I’ve had the UM1’s for a couple of weeks now, and thought I’d post my findings. I’ve actually been using the ‘phones a hell of a lot, mainly due to a recent two week holiday (which included a total of 23 hours on ‘planes), and also due to the fact that I really like the fact that I have found a pair of ‘phones that I get on with.
I have to admit that I was pretty hesitent about forking out £100 on a pair of ‘phones, but I don’t regret a penny of it now (especially as I took advantage of the Try before you Buy offer). One really good (and reasonably undocumented) benefit of good in-ear phones is the fact that you can actually listen to your music at much lower levels than normal, due to the sound isolation they offer. Therefore, instead of cranking up the volume to maximum to blot out background noise (and deafening yourself!), the phones themselves seal out ambient noise, and just leave you with the music you want to listen to. This was bourne out on the recent flights, where my iPod wasn’t even at 50% volumes, yet I was still able to happily hear just my music. They are also extremely comfortable to wear, even for extended periods.
In short, these may seem expensive, but are superb. I guess they prove the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’. In fact, I’m now tempted to try the UM2’s….
Mark.
