Some minimalist design projects of late have been almost abusing the minimalist tag. In some cases good ideas but let down with poor design & typography execution. However, I am particularly fond of these Minimalist Pixar Posters by Wonchan Lee.
The focus and subject matter of each poster is clear, and in some cases raises a rue smile with wonderfully classy typography styled in the lower right corner.

This is a good idea and is backed up with solid design. I would certainly pay for these, and if you would too then you can buy them direct from Gallery Wonchan for around $25 each depending on the size: A2 or A3.

You have a very good eye, I think the first 3 are great but the next 2 let it down, would have been nice if the fourth left facial features and gave us a new surprise, thanks for the images
These are great – various movie poster reductions seem to circulate quite often, I guess they are the perfect lazy student project. But the visual language of Pixar lends itself beautifully to the concept and the block colours here really lend themselves well – interesting that the posters could almost be reduced to their solid colours alone? (I say that conscious that with 3 under 10s of my own, Pixar is a common feature in my household).
That said it’s a mixed bag here, for me some are more successful than others – ‘up’ for example I think could be signified by the glasses alone? And, although as a self contained poster it works well, I’m not sure how ‘Cars 2′ is specifically denoting the Cars sequel? Again, for me, the ‘Incredibles’ poster from the range but not featured here, is particularly successful.
