IJC Desktop Pictures No.6 - ‘Stormy Seas at Seaford Beach’
Welcome to my sixth Desktop Photograph, in my ongoing series. I have altered how I am posting about these, how the downloads work in order to streamline the process a bit for me. Creating all these various screen resolutions, uploading them, linking to them takes some time. So read the info below about how to download them. Don’t worry, you don’t have to jump through hoops, it’s just a link away to my Flickr account.

Instructions for downloading Desktop Pictures
I have now changed the method for downloading these images. Instead of uploading all resolution sizes to my server, I have now uploaded them all to my Flickr account. Here you can view all sizes and download which ones you need. The only compromise is that I have also created a ZIP file of all the resolutions sizes which can be downloaded direct from this post.
14 Available Resolutions for download from Flickr
640×480px, 800×500px, 960×600px, 1024×640px, 1280×800px, 1280×960px, 1280×1240px, 1344×840px, 1440×900px, 1600×1000px, 1600×1200px, 1680×1105px, 1920×1200px, 2560×1600px

A little history lesson
Taken during the storms earlier in March down at my beach in Seaford, East Sussex. It was certainly a grim day, but it all makes it worthwhile when you have clouds, rough sea and a glimpse of the sun shining through the clouds and reflecting of the water. IT takes just the right ingredients to turn an average shot into something more dramatic. Nothing much else to say about this one really other than some Photoshop work that I ended up doing.
End of.
Photoshop
As with a lot of my photos, I turn them into Black and White within Photoshop. This allows me control over how I create the levels of black and funnily enough, white. I have tinkered around with Levels, contrast, Burn and Dodge.
Nothing hard here. As with alot of my images as well, I double up on the main image layer and set, on this occasion, to Overlay which really popped up the contrast. Created a Saturation layer and turned it right down to almost Black and white.
Taken with my ‘average’ 28mm-200mm ‘travel’ zoom and a battered, sand encrusted Canon E300D. Still working to this day even after 2 months in some of the most damn inhospitable places I have ever been to.
I will be releasing more Desktop Pictures each week, so in time I will have a healthy collection, so do subscribe to my RSS feeds to be kept in the loop, or check back on my Desktop pictures page for new additions or search for Desktop Photographs.
If you like photos, then I also have a dedicated Photo Blog using “>Tumblr. Here I will be posting my personal favourites on a regular basis. Mostly Black and White, but some Monotones and the odd colour one.
