Gudrun Jonsson - Supplements can aid recovery
Since my initial diagnosis of Bipolar some 3 years ago I have taken very pro-active approach to learning about mental health and specifically, what I can do as a individual to further my own recovery and maintaining a even keel. To not just rely on clinical medication.
The first thing I did when I came out of The Priory, Hove was to go and see a London Based Nutritionist named Gudrun Jonsson (Biopath using nutritional advice, homoeopathic remedies and reflexology). I had read several of her books whilst in The Priory:
Gut Reaction: A Revolutionary Programme That Kick-starts Your Digestion and Detoxes Your Body System
The Gut Reaction Eating Plan
and became really quite excited and hopeful about my health in general and what she would be able to do to help me overcome the fatigue, low spirits and terrible diet associated with Depression and low moods. This wasn’t a quick fix approach, you are reading the words of one cynical man here, so I was still overly suspicious of anything ‘alternative’. It was through word of mouth and various press snippets that I decided to see her.
I was convinced after reading her books and reading some ‘quotes’ that she would be able to help, and so she did. It does cost money, but nothing out of the ordinary for a one on one consultation but as far as I was concerned I was prepared to do whatever I needed to give myself a fighting chance.
She is a lovely lady, very caring and compassionate, with a wonderful feel to her clinic. Think ‘old whitewashed floorboards’ type home. Laying back int he leather recliner as she massages your feet whilst chatting away is a wonderful feeling.
The initial consultation proved to be a massive pick-me up even before I had left her for the first time. I did walk away with various supplements and minerals, but as I had done my homework before meeting her I knew these were just not ‘display only items’. I’ll be honest, the thought of travelling up on tthe train from my cosy cave at home whilst I was feeling so depressed was a massive hurdle,
but in my head I knew I needed to do it. After seeing her, which was during November, walking out into the London nightmare of, sounds, lights, people and general massive stimulation overload I felt for the first time a peace and calm that I will not forget. And a smile on my face that I had managed to make the trip in the first place.
To this day I still implement her advice and supplements, I paid good money for her consultations and I would be a fool to of not listened to her advice.
I was suffering from all aches pains and bowl and gut problems. Severe IBS, chronic fatigue and tiredness. Within a month or so of rigidly following her diet, most if not all symptoms had disappeared, now for anyone who has or does have chronic IBS (irritable bowl syndrome) I would suggest you think about this quite carefully, no chemist prescribed medication will cure IBS, thats for sure. But following a good diet will.
I occasionally see her, maybe once or twice a year as a check-up.
She tailors her advice for each individual, as we are all unique… she factors in the various clinical medication you may be taking to ensure there are no biological conflicts, but each session is a relaxing and peaceful time, she seems to offer such warm and genuine advice that doesn’t appear to come out as advice, more therapy or counseling.
I would seriously consider making a visit to see her, if not then at least read her book Gut Reaction which I know will convince you to seriously consider seeing her. If finances are low, then you can implement the advice in the book as I had done prior to seeing her.
I know she can help anyone who has severe depression (and any other ilnesses). Please do email me if you want some further personal information on my experiences of Gudrun.
