Details, Details, Details

The following FAQ's should provide you with a little bit of informational nourishment should be debating hiring me or not.

Please please feel free to get in contact if you have absolutely any questions or concerns.

How It All Works

I can't provide a detailed step-by-step of the logo design process as each project can vary significantly. What I can do is give you a good overall idea of what can be expected from the moment you decide to hire me for your logo design…

Read The Small Print

Before hiring me you may be curious to see what the small-print/TOC's say on my logo design proposals/estimates. You can download a dummy proposal which has the details of a fictional client so you can familiarise yourself with my terms before proceeding.

Show Me The Money

You will see from the dummy proposal that I have tiered payment structure which has evolved to this final version over a few years. I would like to refer you to a blog article that I wrote explaining my reasons for this multi-tiered approach.

To summarise
If the project start date is a few weeks away then I will first ask for a Holding Deposit to book/secure the project into my schedule. When I am ready to start the project I will then invoice you for the Starting Payment. When, during the project, we arrive at a mutually approved design direction I will then invoice you for the Progress Payment. Only when are you happy that the logo design has been created to your approval will I then invoice the you for the Balance. I can only pass over electronic files on receipt of the final balance.

Transfer Ownership Of Copyright

Once the final payment has been received then we can arrange the transfer of copyright and ownership from me to you. There is a form to fill in which also requires both parties to provide a signature. You can download a dummy of this form for your reference. This agreement literally means I give all rights/ownership of the final logo design, but does not include previous logo ideas that were not used.

Can

I primarily design logo marks, identity marks, pictorial marks, letterform marks, wordmarks and icons. I provide services that relate to the design and development of the identity or logomark and basic collateral such as stationery and marketing merchandise.

Once we have completed the design part of the logo project I can provide valuable advice on the complexities of commercial printing and print finishing due to my extensive experience working in these environments over the last 24 years. I also have a close working relationship with several local printers, so will happily deal with the logistics of printing your business cards etc for you should this be required.

I can promise you I will work tirelessly to envisage, create and design you a successful business identity. If you would like further clarification on the branding issue, please do get in contact, be happy to explain.

I like to think I am as transparent and as reachable as one can be. You can call me, video chat conference me, and even come to see me if you are close by. I don't hide behind a anonymous website.

Love to brainstorm wonderful new company names and tag lines.

As well as logo and brand identity design I am also available for any other form of graphic design: brochures, posters, catalogues and anything else you care to mention.

Most completed logo projects over £1000 will receive a single page set of Logo Usage Guidelines, information on the construction of the logo as well as some important guidelines.

Cannot

I can't promise you that by hiring me I will design you a successful brand. A successful brand cannot be promised by anyone, a brand is created in the eye of the customer/consumer.

I will not promise you a 2-4 day turnaround. Logo and rebrand identity design is most typically a process of evolution and research. If you need a logo for your business within 48 hours, I doubt I can help.

I will not try to compete with the various free and clip-art style logo design websites that offer logo designs for £50. These are logo designs in the loosest possible sense.

I will not use clip art.

I will not provide you with 2-4 concepts or ideas, one of which you must choose. My logo design process is natural, free flowing, organic with thoughts and ideas evolving with thorough research, sketching and thinking. I will work with you and show you my intended directions at various points of the process. Important to stress that there are no nasty surprises, or having to choose an idea you don't like.

I will not use quick and easy visual cliches.
