The following is a healthy collection of 21 online portfolio websites and applications. Some are free and some are paid. We have the usual suspects in this collection and I also some lesser known portfolio solutions, at least to me anyway. I spent some time trying to discover alternatives to sites like Behance and Deviant Art to provide a wider audience reach for your work.
This is just a sneek peek of a logo and identity design I have finished for a self initiated project called, OptoLoop. The Sneek Peek is to provide an initial view of the logo images. An in-depth ‘logo design process’ post will be done in time brief and to the point information on that design. It will be linked to the images currently existing in my portfolio.
A while back I knocked up a Helvetica poster called 100% Helvetica, 0% Arial – Typography Poster. A semi educational poster on the importance of using Helvetica. This is in preference to the socially destructive Arial. For laughs I then created this Comic Sans version. There is a nice documentary style video circulating on the use of Comic Sans.
Harbor Originals is a result of a unused client idea. The logomark received some favourable feedback when I posted the initial idea for a previous client on Facebook. Although in this case, the client felt it inappropriate for her target market, she did mention it would be more than suitable for someone else in a different geographical area.
Just some silliness on my behalf. Some of these self promotional ‘posters’ or ‘waste of space’ designs have been around a short while, but the snow one is a new one just out today. It’s just a fun way to mock myself yet keep the basic message of what I do right there in your face. There is NO shame. NO shame whatsoever.
Snow in the UK, a week before Christmas is a treat. I don’t know many dogs that don’t enjoy the snow, Dylan for one goes pretty berserk. So with a fresh fall of snow over night, we both wrapped up warm and headed out into the early morning white covering for a walk and some photography with my newPanasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.
A personal logo project playing with negative space in logo marks. This logo, in Helvetica of course, came about more by accident, so nothing overtly planned. Whilst playing with another client logo, and looking at quote marks, I saw this thunderbolt shape that appeared when you put two together.
Based on my previous poster design ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, here is another. This time round, basing it on one of my favourite sci-fi shows, Stargate. I have focused on the lead character played by Joe Flanigan, alias ‘Lt. Colonel John Sheppard’. Choosing one of my favourite quotes, ‘I hate those things.’
Some logo and typographic foolishness. A ‘spin off’ idea from a ‘legit’ logo project called ‘Fifty Two Keys’. Where the obvious subject matter of piano keys etc seemed to be unavoidable. During the project, several other ‘fun’ ideas came about.
A self initiated poster design based on an actual illustration of Hannibal Lectar that I drew some years ago. The drawing was done in pencil and charcoal only. It’s sat in my archives for years, so felt I could add some more life to it by creating a movie poster from it.
Logo In Process – Doug Landscaping. The ‘Logo in Process’ posts are just ideas at the start of a new logo and identity project. The design or designs you see here are likely to change or even stay the same. Who knows at this point.
Continuing my series of Self-Promotion posters based on my new profile photograph, this version takes my quote from a previous post, entitled “Quote : Why I use Helvetica so much”.
These are my Freelance Logo Design Snapshots, just an initial glimpse of ongoing and completed logo and brand identity projects from my portfolio. This one is for ‘The Zen Web’, a colourful and clean logo mark with a unique hybrid font.
Ever the keen photographer. I have been shooting pic’s since I got my first camera at age of about 8. I love exploring my vision through a lens, fascinated with shooting images that show how I see the world. I favour black and white, but will use colour when the colours are just too beautiful to ignore.
A self promo poster, sipnning spin on my previous ‘No. I don’t design logos’ poster. Let there be no doubt as to my purpose in life. I design logos, and I am bloody good at it. How’s that for some positive self reinforcement.
A new typographic based poster design, free for you to download. This quote came about whilst on my usual daily rampage on Twitter. Just popped into being after hearing the usual debate about the virtues of Mac and/or PC. being a Mac fan, I ofcourse sided with Mac. Hence this poster. “Remember. An Apple a day keeps Vista at bay.”
