Art, Design, Photo’s and my attention

This week I have decided to concentrate on areas of my ‘good points’. Namely my Photography. The usual Blog entries have gone by the way side.
It was only a visit by my mate Ray this week that made me realise I had not really given enough time or space to this one particular artistic talent of mine. I knew I had some nice ones, and was making a rather sluggish attempt to put some of them on my Blog. But this was a slow process.
The end result of this visit by Ray was a subsciption to Flickr and a Pro account and subsequently a huge proportion of my images are now uploaded for all to see.
Flickr has made it so easy and enjoyable to showcase my photo’s, which gives me great joy. I shall be uploading more in time, also I shall be unleashing my technical skills with Adobe Photoshop and coming up with some nice variations of the images I already have. My background is Apple Mac’s and Design, including years with Photoshop, so I know a thing or to.
I do hope you will take a few minutes to take a look.

Hai,
I love your pictures. They truly are visually captivating.
I hope you would provide some insight and/or share some of your skills of photoshop and photographing skills along with your photographs. It would be nice to read about what the person behind the lens was thinking while snapping.
Gra, what can i say. Photo’s are excellent and really do highlight your artistic side. Its good to see you focussing on that and taking the time out to do it.
Hey Astrorat,
Thankyou so much for the kind comment, always good to hear.
You are quite right about sharing some insight, I had not considered that aspect of it. I am already putting a post together which hopefully will lay a few things down. Not sure when it will be posted though as I can see it being a relatively length one.
Just quickly though, what I am thinking when snapping… I guess I just go onto autopilot. I know the typr of pics I want so I just maneuver myself into the best position. Some of my best ones are the more candid or unplanned shot. these I just snap away whilst people are not looking, or I take pictures from a different angle to that the person is smiling for someone else. What I do know is that it’s the after and before shot that usually capture the best expressions.
In a way I am just sneaky, I will hide, or use my super zoom and just flick away. For every good one there are 20 bad ones, so I always take a huge number of pics as it’s just ‘that one’ I am looking for.
For instance, the pic of the egyption child peeking round the front of his mother… that was one of a sequence of shots that I could not of even dreamed about…
For my friends wedding, although I had been asked to do the ‘proper’ photos I declined. Various reasons, but mostly I just can’t stand staged shots. So i let the official photographer stage the shots, do the hard work, then I snap away from his shadow and get the ones he misses. Always works…

Anywho, I shall continue to work on a more lengthy chat about it.
Graham
